Failure to yield results in fatal motorcycle accident

Riding a motorcycle can be a fun, relaxing way to unwind after a hard day’s work. It can also be a cost effective way to get around town. Unfortunately, though, due to the negligence of other motorists, riding a motorcycle can also be extremely dangerous. Regardless of how defensive a motorcyclist operates his or her bike, a negligent or reckless driver can put them in harm’s way in the blink of an eye. Far too often, the resulting motorcycle accidents leave victims with serious injuries or worse: death.

One of these wrecks occurred recently in Phoenix, leaving a 56-year-old man dead. According to police, the man, who was riding his motorcycle at the time, was killed after a 68-year-old failed to yield to him. The driver of the car was apparently trying to turn left onto the roadway from a private drive. Since he failed to yield, the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time to avoid colliding with the car. Although he was taken to the hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the car was only cited for failing to yield.

Incidents like this are far too common, and these negligent drivers are often let off too easily. While victims and their families struggle to recoup their physical, emotional and financial damages, negligent drivers sometimes, like in this case, only receive a traffic citation. This is why considering pursuing a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit can be important. Succeeding on one of these claims can bring a victim and his or her family much needed compensation and impose punishment on the individual responsible for the accident in question.

Winning a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit isn’t easy, though. It takes aggressiveness, legal skill and diligence. Those who don’t know the rules of law and how to utilize them to their benefit can be at a severe disadvantage. For this reason, many Phoenix residents have found it beneficial to turn to an experienced attorney for assistance.
