Martin Scorsese sued after employee injured in dog attack

As many Arizona residents know, dogs can be great pets. They can be loyal and loving, providing companionship for many years. However, as friendly as many of these animals are, there is always the very real possibility that they can turn, particular on individuals who are not their owners. When this happens, innocent people can become the victims of vicious dog attacks. The damage caused by dog bites can be more severe than many people realize.

One woman is attempting to show just how damaging animal attacks can be by telling her story through a lawsuit against acclaimed film director Martin Scorsese. According to the lawsuit, the woman, who worked for Scorsese and his wife as a nurse, was attacked by the family’s terrier back in 2015. She claims that she fell as she tried to escape from the attacking animal, which caused her to suffer injuries to her back and neck. Furthermore, she claims that her injuries were so severe that she was unable to work for approximately two years.

Within the claim, the woman states that Scorsese and his wife were well aware of the dog’s vicious tendencies and had even received prior complaints about the dog’s behavior. Furthermore, she claims that the dog’s owners were negligent in their ownership and supervision of the dog. Scorsese, on the other hand, claims that the nurse assumed the risk of working within the dog’s proximity.

This matter is still in its early stages, so it is yet to be seen how it will play out and whether the victim will be successful on her claim. However, this case highlights the significant harm that can be caused when an individual is injured in a dog attack. Additionally, as can be seen here, these cases are often aggressively defended, which means victims need to be prepared to bring strong legal arguments to support their positions. Those who want to learn more about how to develop a strong case in the aftermath of an animal attack in hopes of recovering compensation for their damages should consider speaking with an attorney who is well-versed in this area of the law.
