A pregnant woman who was seriously injured in a head-on collision was able to give birth to a healthy baby girl shortly after the accident. Unfortunately, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident died at the scene of the crash.
According to authorities, the pregnant woman lost control of her vehicle, a minivan, after she hit a tire that was in the middle of a city street northwest of downtown Phoenix and southeast of central Glendale. She wound up crossing into oncoming traffic and hitting a car head-on. The accident happened during the morning rush hour.
Although the police closed the road for several hours while they investigated the incident, additional investigation may be needed. For instance, one piece of information that may be very important road is how a tire came to be lying in the middle of a busy street during the one of the busiest times of day for traffic. Police did say that they do not suspect either impaired driving or speeding were contributing factors.
Just the same, Arizona motorists have a legal obligation to maintain control over their cars. This requires that drivers pay full attention to the road. Specifically, drivers must be aware of the fact that roads will sometimes have debris on them that will be large enough to cause a vehicle to spin out of control. Drivers need to watch out for obstacles on the road, as not doing so can cause a serious or even fatal car accident. In addition, those transporting goods or large objects must make sure they are secure to the vehicle or could retain liability if a lose object falls away and becomes a hazard on the roadway.
Although there are at least two families which now have bills and other losses from this accident, sorting out who is responsible to pay for what may be complicated from a legal perspective, especially given the circumstances.
